Finding Your Range
Every voice has a natural home. Map your comfortable lowest and highest notes and you'll know exactly which songs and keys fit you best.
What "vocal range" means
Your vocal range is simply the span between the lowest and the highest notes you can sing comfortably — your low end and your high end, with everything usable in between. It has nothing to do with being a "good" singer; it's just where your particular voice naturally lives.
Finding your low and high end
Start from a comfortable note in the middle of your voice. Step down note by note, singing each one, until the notes stop feeling easy to sustain — that's roughly your low end. Then go back to the middle and step upward the same way to find your high end. Don't push past what feels comfortable; you're mapping, not stretching.
Your comfortable "sweet spot"
Within your full range there's usually a smaller zone in the middle — your sweet spot — where your voice feels easiest and sounds most like "you." Most melodies will sit best when they live mostly in that zone, with occasional dips or reaches to the edges of your range.
